12.25.22 Wishing all our friends, customers and suppliers Merry Christmas and the happiest of holidays! You have all added to our joy and success this year and hopefully for many years to come, we are truly Grateful!
08.27.22 Enjoying the Arizona Speaker Fest; four different rooms with six speakers in each, very happy with the response we're getting for the new Point1+ !
08.10.22 For all our customers and friends in the Phoenix area, our new Point1+ speakers were selected by the Arizona Audio Club for their 2022 SpeakerFest. They will demonstrate and compare 18 pairs of stand-mount speakers under $3K. I think we will be the smallest and least expensive speaker there, so we will get to demonstrate how well we punch above our weight! Come on by Saturday, August 27th, 2022, at the Fountain Hills Community Center.
08.01.22 Our room at Pacific Audio Fest. Great response from visitors and press, and great to see so many owners, both recent and vintage.
07.30.22 To see what's new, you have to take a look at our backside! The new Speakerlab Point1-p Debuting this weekend (July 29–31) at the Pacific Audio Fest.
07.30.22 To see what's new, you have to take a look at our backside! The new Speakerlab Point1+. Debuting this weekend (July 29-31) at the Pacific Audio Fest.
07.26.22 First listening test of the Margules i240 Class A tube integrated running our Super Sevens (just couldn't wait for Julian Margules to get here tomorrow to set them up!). Our speakers are efficient, but it's amazing what this integrate can do for them with just 25 W per channel!
07.15.22 Speakerlab is Celebrating 50 years (ok, 50 was last year, but we couldn't do anything, so we are calling a do over!) and we are thrilled to be doing a local show, the Pacific Audio Fest, room 2214! When we jumped back into the speaker business back in 2008 our goal was to bring our legendary designs into the 21st century with modern materials and performance, and the resulting speakers are now legends themselves! This year we expand that by introducing more speakers and technology that allow our customers to get a speaker (or kit) exactly suited to their needs and lifestyle. We are busy improving on the past, not selling nostalgia!
04.23.22 Day two at AXPONA, a couple dealer and a supplier meeting this morning, then meeting up with a few midwest customers (a few vintage, and a few current). Always great to talk to customers wherever we go!
04.22.22 Here we are at AXPONA once again! We aren't displaying this year (after last year getting canceled at the last minute, we were feeling a bit commitment phobic!), but we are meeting with a couple of dealers, as well as a few of our Midwestern customers. Other than that we will just be roaming around to see what's what, so drop us a note if you’re there and want to say hi.
02.09.22 Very happy client showing off his freshly built Point1's (He bought our electronic kits and built his own cabinets). He had a pair of kits from the '80's and wanted to upgrade, so he bought a pair to try out, and then bought the other three to complete the set:
"the first 2 of 5 speakers are done. They sound amazing!
I put Owner of a Lonely Heart on first. No idea why. Sounded great. Then Baba O'Riley. Brilliant! ELP's Tank was next. So much going on in that song. Amazing! I finished with Beaubourg by Vangelis. Whatever you think of it as music, it has incredible channel changes throughout, so it was fun to hear where the sound was at any given time.
Thank you!!!!"
01.06.22 A client ordered the electronic kit version of our Point2D's to rebuild a vintage pair of Braun/ADS speakers he had from the '80's. He was so happy with them, he just ordered another pair of kits, this time with the cabinets (that he is going to veneer to match his other pair)!
10.06.21 Our cabinet shop has been working through supply challenges like everyone else, but we just did a supplimental run so we can fill backorders. Thank you for your patience!
09.08.21 This was one of the setups our dealer was going to use at RMAF. Beautiful vintage Tag McLaren CD/DVD transport and preamp to run the Point1's, but where is the amp? Where indeed
08.19.21 Between heath risks, and the quickly diminishing projected attendance numbers, we have decided not to participate in CEDIA this year. While we are disappointed about having to cancel, this decision for our team appears to be in line with the majority of dealers and industry partners; the health risk is just too great.
We haven't shown at CEDIA since 2017 (having done consumer shows like RMAF and Newport instead), but had planned to have a great show with some new products and a get together for the 50th anniversary with a bunch of our customers and partners from past and present. Hopefully we can all catch up at another show soon!
08.18.21 One of our kit customers just sent us nice pics of her assembly. It was her first build and she said it took her about 45 minutes. This kit (Point1 UVM) included unfinished veneer cabinets that she finished with a simple brush on satin poly.
07.09.21 For those of you that have inquired about our 50th anniversary party, we are now looking at dates in early fall (when we announced it two years ago, we had it planned for 7/7/2021 to coincide with our yearly open house... but covid, etc.). We should have a couple of new products to premier then too! As for 50th anniversary editions, instead of doing a special run of a couple of models, we will be doing bespoke custom builds of all models (with wood costs and supply chain issues, this is just making more sense!).
02.13.21 Just delivered a set of our Super SevenT-c kits in a custom (white oak) veneer so the customer can finish them to match his vintage Speakerlab speakers. This is the first of three sets we have going out this week (snow permitting!).
12.17.20 Finally received our shipment of Super Seven bezels from our new machine shop, everything goes slow during the pandemic! Now to catch up with back orders!
08.05.20
Our collection of vintage catalogs is getting more complete! After a discussion on our fan page (Speakerlab Groupies) about the first official use of the moniker "Super 7", a former employee provided a 1978 catalog so we could post it. (there had been an earlier unofficial speaker that many called the Super 7; it had the bass section of a 7 with the larger horns of a K, but those where custom built, mostly for large venues like Seattle Center Laserium and various clubs of the era).
Talking to another employee from those days, he said 1978 was a year full of unicorns. The .1 from that year was unique, using the DT110 tweeter (which returned in '83) and a smaller box, and the 1 got a tweeter called a DT110A, which only showed up that year, and only in that speaker. At the other end of the speaker range, the WA7 was supposed to be done but it wasn't, so the Super 7 (which had been a popular unofficial mod/option for the 7) was made official as a last hurrah for the original form factor 7 (which was in its third generation at that point). After the WA7 passed on in '81-ish, it was replaced by a new Super 7, which had lost its horns and was more in line with the 'modern' speakers in the line at the time. Vintage Catalogs
07.29.20 Comparing an original Speakerlab 1 (circa '73-'74) to our current Point2. Very similar performance at moderate listening levels (testament to the smooth, flat response they achieved back in the day with little more than an RTA!). Their midrange lacks the detail of our current speaker, but still very pleasing to listen to!
07.27.20 A long time Speakerlab fan donated a beautiful pair of first generation Speakerlab 1's to us that he had built in the early '70s! Other than the L pads being a little scratchy, they are in great condition (even the silicone is neat!). Once he gets his new house done we will be discussing what the replacements will be.
07.17.20 One of our customers just sent us a pic of his nicely customized build of our Super SevenT-c, they came out gorgeous! He also built custom stands and grilles (which he said we could steal the design of...).
He had built a set of original 7 kits 'back in the day' for himself, and now built this pair as a college graduation gift for his son! He says is daughter will graduate next year and he will build her a set too. What a great SpeakerLab family!
04.13.20 In the past we have created one-off adapters to fit our 1" dome tweeters into various speakers, but we will now be offering two standard adapters to fit our tweeters (or any tweeter with a 2.74" diameter bezel and <1.75? diameter rear structure) into older Speakerlab speakers (as well as many other speakers that use these sizes):
T1A1: round 4.05" (standard-ish size for many tweeters, including our DT100 and DT108 that we used for so many years).
T1A2: rectangular 3.5" x 5" (the same size as our DT110, but will work to cover any hole smaller than 3.5" x 5", including some or our horn and leaf tweeters).
We won't have screw holes in them so that they can be match/drilled to whatever hole pattern your old tweeters have, giving it a finished look.
PS These are prototypes we printed to test fit and function (and copyright), the production units will have a bit better finish (though the slightly rough surface does add some diffusion).
03.02.20 The same fan sent us these additional pics from the Deluxe (me thinks they spend a lot of time there!). Our dealer says they got these installed about a week ago and that, once the Deluxe finishes remodeling their game room, they will be adding more!
02.06.20
After a long wait, our updated drivers for the Point Line are on their way from Peerless! We will start filling backorders as soon as we receive and QC them, likely early March.
02.03.20
One of our sharp-eyed fans spotted our speakers in Deluxe Bar & Grill; a Capitol Hill (Seattle) institution since 1962 (9 years older than us!). They'd been recently installed by one of our dealers who tells us they will be adding quite a few more when the Deluxe finishes a remodel in the coming months. They say the owner is a big fan and is super happy with them! Our speakers (current and classic!) are featured in many restaurants and business in Seattle (and elsewhere), send pics if you spot them (or ask, and we'll tell you were you can find some!).
01.02.20
A customer sent us this pic of their old Linn 5120's that they are replacing with our Point2's.
When we were designing the Point2's, the 5120's where one of the speakers we modeled and benchmarked against, so it seems fitting that the client chose them when they decided to upgrade their system.
11.10.19
A nice post by our friends at Cello! Fully custom projects are always fun, and they let us expand the options we can offer. We've always had a fully active option for our custom integrator clients, and all our speakers can be bi-amped, but this is the first set of Super Sevens we've done with external crossovers, allowing them to be easily changed to fully active in the future.

Olson's Hi Fi Facebook Post
10.03.19
Subtle badging on the Super Thirty Bezel.
07.23.19
Visiting old friends- the first customer pair of Super Sevens, installed back in 2012 at Mezcaleria Oaxaca in Seattle, along with a few pairs of Point2's, all custom finished in gold and copper leaf! They're remodeling, so we'll be moving some things around, but the Super Sevens will remain above the doors to welcome customers with great music!
07.23.19
We just received the sheet metal for the Super Seven's new remote crossovers! Normally the crossovers are internal, but for our -ow version, or sets that might be upgraded to fully active later, or clients who just want that little bit more, we can move them out into their own isolated enclosure.
02.10.19
We're building a custom set of Super Sevens for a customer to match some vintage McIntosh gear, since they're local, we loaned them a set to enjoy while they wait!
09.26.18 We've solidified our booth plan and will be premiering our Super SevenT-c's (the symmetrical tower version of our Super Sevens) powered by Bob Carver Crimson 350 monoblocks, and our Point2's powered by the new Bob Carver 275 Stereo amp. Source will be a Wolf Audio server run through a Mytek Brooklyn DAC, all wired with Kimber Kable Ascent and Base cables. Come see us next week at RMAF, room 2018!
09.12.18
We have chosen Bob Carver tube amplifiers to use at RMAF (October 5-7). We will be running our Super Sevens with a pair of their Crimson 350 monoblocks and our Point1s and Point2s with their 275 Stereo amp. Come see two historic Northwest brands in one room!
08.09.18
We are honored to be selected for the Al Stiefel Legacy Room at this year's RMAF (October 5-7). Come by and see us in room 2018!
08.06.18
We will have a demo room at the Rocky Mountain AudioFest (RMAF) October 5-7 this year! We haven't determined what all we will be showing, but we will add updates as we firm up the details. We hope to see you there!
03.08.18
Release party for our new Active Legends! We will be demo'ing our Super SevenT-c/A, SevenT-c/A, Super Thirty-c/A and Thirty-c/A. These are active versions (tri or quad amplified) of their passive brethren. We will also be doing a 'shootout' of our Super Seven against original 7's from 1973, and WA7's from 1980, as well as against a 'guest' pair of speakers (Martin Logan Vistas). Location: ye old Speaker Lab building. Please RSVP through our Facebook page: Rollout of our Active Legends, and Seven: old vs new shootout
08.10.17
We will be exhibiting at the 2017 Cedia tradeshow in San Diego September 7-9. If you are a dealer interested in custom speaker solutions, stop by and see us!
06.07.17
Super Sevens and Sevens on 7/7 at 7:00! An evening of listening to our Super Seven, Seven and Thirty from our Legend Series, as well as the Point1 and Point2 speakers from our Point Line. We will have a couple of vintage pairs of Speakerlab 7's there for comparison, and some great demo material for listening. This will be an informal get together for fans of our speakers, new and old. It is the 42nd anniversary of the iconic 7, so come and see/listen to the latest iteration of the legend! Location: ye old Speaker Lab building. Please RSVP through our Facebook page: Super Sevens and Sevens on 7/7 at 7:00!
6.10.16
We will be partnering with Cello Technologies at the Vancouver Audio Show June 24-26, so we will be showing our speakers on a full 1000 Series stack of Boulder equipment... this will be fun!
06.07.16
We were invited to show and present at the Vancouver Audio Show June 24-26, so we will take that opportunity to premier the new tower versions of the SEVEN and SUPER SEVEN, might even run one fully active, just for fun!
05.25.16
Last tweaks going into tower versions of our SEVEN and SUPER SEVEN, some teaser cabinet pics over on our faceboook page.
03.04.16
Just finishing up the designs for our new THIRTY and SEVEN (a conventional drivered version of the SUPER SEVEN). We have a customer creating a full Atmos 9.2.4 theater with them, so we are working against a time line!
11.21.2015
Sadly the Speakerlab Retail store is closing, but never fear, that won't affect SL Speakers (other than some warehouse rearranging).
06.13.15
Just delivered 4 sets of kits (Point1's and Point2C's) for a client to custom match to their new cabinetry. These continue the theme they started in their theater which has Point2D's and Point2D-ow's for surrounds (supporting ATC SCM40 mains and Cello FU15 subs).
02.11.2014
The Seven is finally here! The first pair are being delivered to the new Mezcaleria Oaxaca restaurant on capitol hill to be custom painted/gold and copper leafed!
04.11.2013
We are working on the Point2D's voicing; comparing its in-room response to various speakers (Point2D and M/L Vista in these images).
